Philosophy

Offering children opportunities for outdoor play and learning exercises more than their physical being. Through exploration, observation, self-reflection and group discussion, children begin making connections, forming ideas and opinions, and cultivating meaningful conversations amongst each other and with themselves. These connections allow children to form and grow relationships with each other and with nature and the environment, resulting in a deeper respect and love for outdoor play and the environment. These connections will have a positive impact across various contexts within children's lives.

The benefits of outdoor playing and learning are:

  • improved confidence, social and communication skills, motivation and concentration

  • improved physical health, fine and gross motor skills

  • positive identity formation

  • environmentally sustainable behaviours and ecological literacy

  • healthy and safe risk-taking

  • improved creativity and resiliency, self-regulation, and reduced stress

Evidence proves that interacting with the natural environment can increase self-discipline and capacity for attention while empowering children’s knowledge about biodiversity and the environment.
